Isla Bastimentos

La Playa de Tortugas (Survivor films here!!)

Each place keeps getting better and better. Wow, I thought Puerto Viejo was beautiful.... Bocas, kills it. This place is like an all around screen saver!! Traveled from Puerto Viejo via shuttle to Sixaola where we traveled by foot across the border. That definitely has been one of the scariest things I've ever done. The bridge we crossed by foot was an rickety old rail road bridge which, if you can imagine, every other step being a drop of about 20 ft into a raging river. And with my like 20 pound suitcase offered quite a challenge. But I made it, thankfully, and finally made my way to Bocas.

Oh yeah,  and I've got to mention my Argentinean friend who sat beside me on the shuttle. Hah I don't know what it is about Argentina but they produce some good looking people. This guy, if you can also imagine, looks just like a South American Robert Downey Jr. hahah he's quite adorable. We sang 80s american tunes the whole way here. Anyway, as soon as I stepped off the boat in Isla Bastimentos (where my resort is) I saw my first Sloth!!!! It was the coolest thing.. There was the mother and a baby, and yes, they moved extremely slow. haha
Can you spot the sloth? Look in the dead center of the picture, that's them!

This place is truly a paradise jungle with mountains, beach, and lush vegetation. Red Frog Beach is actually home to so many red frogs that you see everywhere. Other cool facts I've learned about this place? Survivor Russia has filmed here this year and Sports Illustrated did their swim shoot here like a month ago. Cool right? Just waiting for Survivor in the U.S. to come here. Also right now on la playa de Tortuga (beach of turtles) is nesting season!! They say at night you can go out and see the sea turtles come up and  lay their eggs. Let's just say I'll be stalking that beach tonight. haha Well today I'm doing a Yoga Class at our spa then maybe head into town to pick up a few items.  We'll see. Until next time...

Hasta Luego!
